What do We Know?

The longer I stay at this dentistry thing the more I realize just how little I actually know. Attached are pre op (2015) and current PANO on a patient in which I intentionally left a cantilever tooth born FPD with proximal contacts against implants I placed in 2015. Since then he has had the opposing teeth extracted and thus the resulting eruption of the cantilevered FPD. I am fairly confident that in today’s
titanium dominated dental field this is considered impossible and not likely to last over a year. The point is that it is still present 8 years later and if not for the loss of the opposing teeth would likely be in great shape in spite of our ever knowing dental wisdom and ability to predict the future of all things tooth…
