Loading in 2 months?

hello

want to ask if anyone here have experience with sgs implants especially about loading them after 2 months ???

if yes do you have some special cautions to tell the patients about like type of diet or anything else

thank you

Not sure what “SGS” implants are but I assume that they are textured titanium screws just like all of the others. I have routinely loaded all of my implants at 3 months for over 20 years and have done plenty of earlier and immediate load. IMHO an implant that is initially placed with good stability will be back to baseline in 6 weeks… in other words if the implant goes in at 40Ncm (insertion torque is a horrible measure of stability but it seems to be worshiped by many others) it will initially lose some stability and return to baseline at 6 weeks. Straumann advertises their SLActive surface as safe for 4-6 weeks loading and I believe Astra suggests 8 weeks so it is not out of the ordinary. Personally if I were going to deliver a final restoration I would not give strict dietary rules with it because it is supposed to be a final restoration designed for use. If a patient has to wait 6-8 weeks for a restoration that comes with a list of rules I think I would hold off delivering it for a few more weeks when I can deliver it without rules.

you can always torque the implant to check if implant is integrated. when you do 2nd stage or during impression. i usually take impression at 3 months, often 2nd stage and impression at the same time, then deliver the crown 2 weeks later. If i have doubts. i’ll torque the implant. if pt feels pain then implant not ready. wait 1-2 months more. but 99% of implants always pass the torque test at 3 months.

there are no special diet or precautions for patients. i don’t have any diet restrictions or precautions after implant placement.

SDS are Zirconia implants. Generally not restored for 3-6 months depending on location in the mouth and other factors.

If “SDS” are zirconia fixtures what are “SGS”… Assuming they are not textured titanium screws like 99.97% of all other products on the market then I assume the individual who originally posted this should ignore what teng-dds and myself have said and wait 3-6 months like folks do for about 99% of all other cases.

Actually I just looked it up and “SGS”, which is what the original post was in reference to, is actually a titanium Swiss made fixture… not to be confused with “SDS”

My mistake, not SDS, not zirconia.
