DR SCOTTY. the implant also looks like there’s no threads on the outside. is it just the angulation of the PA? so smooth looking on the PA.
Hi Scotty, I feel this is the one. Yes I may have assumed I saw a polished collar and thought it was a healing abutment.
Based all your recommendations I am trying to convince my patient for explantation particularly my prosthodontist doesn’t want to fit a denture over an implant.
@teng-dds with regards to implant being submerged and implant exposure and regular protocols I am aware of there. The information I was trying to extrapolate is if anyone has had experience of burying a peri-implantitis implant, I appreciate this is unusual but I was interested to know. Once again thank you for all your feedback.
I am not sure why this fixture has been diagnosed as failing. Other than the apparent residual root tip on the distal and the mild/moderate loss on the mesial it appears stable. If you want to take it out of service without explanting it then you can always reduce it down to the crest with a high speed diamond and then close the remaining access hole with Teflon tape or any restorative material prior to closing the soft tissue over the top. Think of it as a titanium overdenture…
