Does the presence of this cyst change your way of doing lateral sinus lift?

For the dentists who do lateral sinus lift, does the presence of this cyst change your way of doing lateral sinus lift?

What would happen if the tx plan is to elevate the sinus membrane without any intervention of the cyst?

This cyst appears small enough that it won’t occlude the osteomeatal complex. Many are too big and require cyst removal/reduction before implant placement. Keep in mind that the OMC will swell so Afrin nasal spray and a Medrol dose pack along with NSAID’s will keep it patient. Good luck.

Thanks. Does the cyst tend to burst during the sinus membrane elavation?

Not typically in my experience. You always need to be ready to deal with it, as with a large membrane sinus perforation. The Loma Linda Pouch technique has been published by a number of surgeons, most notably dr Mike Pikos to repair the perf. When doing lateral window SA 3 & SA4 you have to be ready for that to occur and simply deal with it or refer to someone that is comfortable with membrane perforations.

Is the schneiderian membrane like this?

this is a psuedocyst. ENT’s leave them. They are fluid filled sac that may rupture if you do a sinus lift there. Read about them on the internet, on ENT’s websites
