So long story short, I recently was made aware by my dentist that I could get a dental implant for one of my teeth upper jaw I believe number five. My dentist appointment happen to be a day before I was going to turkey for Hair Transplant so I decided to get to implant in turkey. They gave me a German dental implant Medigma Mars 4.2mmd by 10mml and now my dentist in USA is saying they don’t have the parts what should I do ? I see the parts online
this forum is for dentists only. but i’ll answer your question. Just because you see the parts online doesn’t mean the implant is FDA approved for medical use in USA. If you look on their “local distributor” page you can see they do NOT distribute in USA. Meaning their implant is most likely not USA FDA approved. They only distribute in euro-middle east. you could contact the company and see if they sell their implants and parts in USA to confirm what i said. If not your out of luck. this means your dentist (who is correct) and all USA dentists cannot order parts to restore your implant. As a result, u will have to return to turkey to have it restored. Another problem is, if the implant have any problems in the future your USA dentist cannot help you either.
2nd option is to have your USA dentist to remove the implant and place a FDA approved implant system and restore in USA.
This happens all too often w/ pt trying to save some money and go out of USA to have implants placed and thinking they all the same. unfortunately, there are more implant brands than car brands, and they not always have interchangeable parts.
You are stuck with an implant that only can be restored outside of USA. good luck.
on a side note. using implants to replace missing teeth is never an urgent treatment. although you were “made aware” that you are a candidate for implant treatment. Im sure you’ve been missing that tooth and other teeth for a while now. You definitely jump the gun and made a poor choice for having an implant placed in turkey. i am assuming you did so not for convenience since you were there for hair transplant as you indicated. I believe you tried to save some money. Because implant surgery usually is more expensive in USA compared to turkey.
But luckily, you will be going back to turkey quite often since you got a hair transplant there, im assuming you will return to turkey for follow ups with the hair surgeon.
there is a 3rd option. but only if your dentist is super nice. he can contact the implant company. and if you are extremely lucky, this particular implant system is a copycat of a major implant brand/system. then your dentist could get compatible parts which fits your implant and restore for you (i doubt he would). just as a reference i sometimes restore implants not placed by me. but i charge >$2000 to restore the unknown implants due to special ordering and time involved in getting parts. your dentist could charge more.
good luck.
Sorry I didn’t know but thank you for your insight definitely jump the gun
